Reconnecting With Loved Ones
in the New Year
A new year means new goals, new opportunities, and new beginnings. It’s also a time to reconnect with those loved ones, you might have not been able to see in person over the holidays. The year 2020 is one that we will never forget. COVID-19 came quick, shutting down cities, locking us indoors and keeping us away from extended family as we all fought a deadly virus. Staying positive, spreading love, and focusing on a fresh start in the new year are key steps to moving forward. While it might sound easier said than done, The Grace of Design team has you covered. Here are a few ideas to help you reconnect with your family and spread a message of joy and hope as we close the chapter of 2020 and take on the new opportunities in 2021.
Host an Online NYE Party
Thanks to internet applications like Zoom and Google Meets it’s easy to hang out with family even if you can’t see each other in person. Set a date, send out some invites and hop online for a digital family NYE party. Encourage your family members to decorate their homes with fun party décor and bring in the new year together online.
Try a Family New Years Resolution
We all have new year’s resolutions, in mind for ourselves but have you thought about trying one out as a family? Some ideas include working out more, cutting out fast foods, starting a family book club (we found some great tips and suggestions by Brightly), learning a new skill, hosting a monthly family chat, or taking on a DIY home project. Not only will this be a fun way to reconnect with family members, but it’s also a great opportunity to keep yourselves accountable. Make it fun with a little family competition and reward the family members who stick to the resolution and complete the tasks.
Put Some Positivity in the Mail
We all love receiving gifts in the mail! Sending out greeting cards with handwritten notes of encouragement and positivity could put a smile on your family member’s faces. Our selection of greeting cards has a little something for everyone in your life. Take the time to write some thoughtful notes to different members of your family and send them out. Keep the notes going by encouraging the family members that receive a card to send a card to another family member. It’s a small token of love and appreciation that can go a long way.
The new year means it’s time to create new goals, focus on new opportunities, and reconnect with family. Staying in touch with online video sessions, creating family new years resolutions, and sending out positive notes are a few ways that you can encourage a bright start to the new year with your loved ones. Have more ideas? We would love to hear them! Share them with us by connecting with us on our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.
Here's to a better 2021!
